Drive Thru Windows And Dollar Limits

This is something I regularly ponder everytime I'm in a fast food drive thru. You always have that car full of people that seem to be buying out the restaurant.  One can see bag after bag, drink after drink, being carried into the window. They have to be spending at least $50.

Now why didn't they all just go in, especially if it's more than one separate order?

The drive thru is designed for quick convenience. This blurb may sound a lot like my ATM one but that's okay. You see many drive thrus being clogged up for this reason. McDonalds and 24/7 places such as Cookout and Jack in the Box seem to fill up faster. Then all you're wanting is a McDouble and a shake.

I've researched, polled folks, and brainstormed in order to figure out a solution. The logical one would be to have a dollar limit for drive thru services to be rendered. Say $20/carload or you must go inside.

Now I understand a balance of vehicles in the drive thru and patrons in the restaurant must be maintained, especially depending upon the staff. However, if you have a large order, you should go inside, call it in, or both. This would solve the problem for a family of five, three of those being small children that you don't want to take inside.

The drive thru system has revolutionized the restaurant business. Many sit down restaurants such as Applebees even have curb side service and parking.  This may not be a bad idea for fast food places.

Nonetheless, this must be monitored closely. It may take extra technology and possibly even an extra staff member or two. However, the end result and rewards can be worthwhile.  Business would pick up as service would be rendered faster, and the drive thru would no longer be abused by a truck full of drunken co-eds all getting the #1 Extra Value meal.

My hope is the corporate executives are brainstorming this as well and see it as a problem. It must be addressed. Fast food is already unhealthy enough. They have to figure out a way to continue attracting folks to their restaurants.

Stay tuned for more on this subject of fast food and restaurants. It seems to be a good topic of discussion. After all, we all have to eat.

Seven Places I Wish Had Home Delivery Service

Income tax refund season is here, meaning more folks will be dining out, at least for a short period of time. Delivery service has changed our dining habits, especially when gas has been at peak prices. Pizza and Chinese places have been delivering for years. I'm not sure why most other places will not deliver. Here are seven places that I think should offer delivery service.

1. Zaxbys

A special shout out to my lady friends LaSandra and Avella for inspiring this topic. They are Zaxby fiends and for good reason. This restaurant has delicious food, healthy Zalads, and always a good special shake. It would be awesome to have that delivered to your door.

2. Cookout

This is my new favorite fast food joint. You can get a full meal for $5, plus they have a variety of shakes, one for every day of the month, and half the next month. You can also skip that annoying drive thru.

3. Chick Fil-A

They have awesome food, especially the chicken sandwiches, and some of the best customer service you will find anywhere. I could only imagine their delivery service would be top notch. You cannot order on Sundays of course.

4. Kentucky Fried Chicken and Taco Bell

I combine these two because they are all owned by the same company that owns Pizza Hut, and Pizza Hut delivers. Taco Bell has a lot of cheap and sometimes tasty food, especially the Doritos Los Tacos. KFC always manages to stay relevant in the chicken game. You know you want 10 tacos and 11 herbs and spices in a giant bucket delivered to your door.

5. Waffle House

The ultimate late night spot would provide hash browns smothered and covered to those wanting a late night treat, but not willing to leave the house. Also, perhaps you had a house party and you're too drunk to drive there. Either way, Waffle House would further maximize their business if they would do deliveries.

6. The local Mexican restaurant

I'm actually surprised many Mexican restaurants do not deliver, especially since more people are embracing the cuisine, especially locally with Broncos and Santiago’s. Obviously you wouldn't be able to deliver margaritas. Dishes such as Tex Mex Nachos and Pollo Fundidos would somehow taste better with home delivery.

7. Subway

It's a good way to eat fresh and healthy. You would have to order at least two five dollar foot longs, and maybe some cookies for delivery to be made. However, it would be worth it. Sandwich trays could also be included in the package.

So what other places should offer home or workplace delivery service?

Treat It Like A Bill: Setting Aside Funds to Spoil and Reward You!

Many folks know how financially sound I am. I budget every penny and every dollar. I also am always on the lookout for extra money in the form of discounts and legal side hustles/additional income sources. All that being said, I do try to spoil myself every week. Whether its a movie, buying a new shirt, or even something really inexpensive like a shake from the Cookout, I believe its important and healthy to reward yourself.

Several people work hard and sacrifice valuable time from family, friends, and other things we love. Therefore, occasionally spoiling yourself shows your self-value, self-worth, and gives you gratitude for a job well done.

Now of course I don't mean go bananas, like buy a 60 inch flat screen, or an expensive weekend trip to Miami. Those are nice also. What I mean is something you personally enjoy, but within reason of your personal finances. Simply set aside a few extra dollars for this. Heck budget for it, and treat it like a bill! Your health will thank you later.

Many folks already give 10% of their earnings back to the Lord in the form of tithes. What about budgeting for an additional 10% for yourself? Your choice, night out, dinner at your favorite restaurant, a new pair of shoes, a massage. You have earned it.

It's nice when you can gain enough discipline to even get an ice cream cone or a Frosty from the dollar menu, or go bigger and take a road trip. It helps you to unwind, and it will be money well spent.

Robert T. Kiyosaki actually talks about in "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" about paying yourself first. Consider my advice as similar to that.

What will be your reward for what you've accomplished? Any accomplishment, big or small, should be celebrated. It can be simple. We do only have one life.
